What to Consider for Your Boudoir Shoot

Empowering, intimate and timeless - all wonderful qualities of a boudoir photoshoot.

A boudoir photoshoot can leave you feeling desirable and undeniably confident. Whether you’re looking to capture the raw essence of your beauty or find the perfect gift for that special someone, there are many reasons to have your own boudoir photoshoot.

What is a Boudoir Photoshoot?

Boudoir is a style of photography that is known around the world. While it has been around for many years, it recently started to gain more and more popularity.

Boudoir photography generally has one subject and the photos are often taken in an intimate and elegant setting, such as a bedroom. The session will focus on the intimate atmosphere, clothing and materials, and the subject and their body.

At LivePixels Photography, we aim to provide you with a boudoir photography session that is simple, feminine and elegant. Our goal is to celebrate femininity, sexuality and raw beauty through the art of photography.

When to Have Boudoir Photos Taken

A boudoir photoshoot will provide you with images that are tasteful, elegant and truly timeless. There are several occasions when a boudoir photoshoot can be scheduled, including but not limited to:

  • Wedding or engagement

  • Valentine’s Day, birthday or other special occasion

  • To cherish and capture intimate moments for yourself

  • To celebrate love

  • To feel empowered and confident

  • Just because!

No matter your inspiration or motivation, we can work with you to create timeless memories and capture intimate moments during a boudoir session.

Tips, Tricks & Things to Consider

Whether you have scheduled your boudoir session or you’re still thinking about it, we have put together a list of tips, tricks and things to consider - to help you make the most of your experience with us.

Bring Everything You Could Need

When it comes to your boudoir photoshoot, you can never be too prepared.

While your session includes hair, make-up and access to a complete wardrobe, we suggest packing makeup, hair products, accessories, and even an extra outfit. Anything that you might need, it’s better to bring it with you - just in case!

Get Plenty of Rest and Hydrate

Reduce your risk of dry skin or baggy eyes by ensuring that you are fully hydrated and well rested. While it’s always important to maintain good health, we recommend prioritizing your sleep patterns and water intake at least three days prior to your photoshoot.

Relax and Try to Have Fun

Boudoir sessions are intimate and personal. While your photographer will coach and guide you throughout the session, helping you to feel as safe and comfortable as possible, it’s also important to relax and have fun.

Consider asking your photographer to play music during the session. This is an easy way to keep the mood light and fun, no matter how provocative things may get!

Communicate with Your Photographer

The best way to ensure a smooth and successful boudoir photoshoot? Engaging in honest and consistent communication with your photographer. Be sure to clarify details and ask any pressing questions prior to your shoot, so that you know exactly what to expect.

If during the photoshoot you would like to skip a pose or focus in another area, be sure to let your photographer know! At the end of the day, they want to create a comfortable and memorable experience for you.

Don’t Forget Self-Care!

Self-care is so important, especially prior to your photoshoot! Be sure to make time for the following forms of self-care:

  • Hair trim, cut and/or colour

  • Manicure and pedicure

  • Shaving or waxing

  • Facial and skin care

Pampering yourself can leave you feeling empowered, confident and glowing. Truly the perfect combination for your boudoir session.

On the day of your photoshoot, we ask that you arrive with clean hair and skin. This will provide the hair stylist and make-up artist with a fresh canvas!
